What does Flint and Grand Rapids have in common?

EMU Forensics, coaches and team members, provided the instruction for two day camps this summer at these locations: Flint Powers Catholic High School and Grand Rapids Christian High School. Spending four days at each site the instructional team had the opportunity to work with outstanding high school students and to assist them in their preparation for the 2011-12 high school tournament circuit. Focused and eager, the camps reached 40 students from 9 high schools.

Remembering Virginia Koste

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvpVAzUIQZQ

Please take the time to view this very special video posted by the Drama Theatre for the Young program on YouTube. It celebrates and remembers the life of one of the program's founding faculty members: V. Glasgow Koste. It is both inspirational and a personal glimpse into this special woman and her impact on a most unique EMU program!

Also at the June 4th event a goal was announced to fully endow a scholarship for DTFY students by the program's 50th birthday. This scholarship is named in honor of the DTFY founders, Jinny Koste and Thelma McDaniel. If you would like to support this scholarship and honor these two outstanding women, please download a donation form and letter of introduction from DTFY's current faculty members.

June 4th Celebrations

Alumni returned for several special events on Saturday, June 4, 2011.

We honored over 40 years of service to EMU by Dr. Gary Evans with the dedication of a peace pole in his honor. The peace pole is located on Quirk circle drive.

Jinny Koste's contributions to our DTFY program were celebrated and a stone story circle was named in honor of both program's founders, Koste and Thelma McDaniel. The story circle is also on the north side of Quirk and on the circle drive.

Both these additions to our landscaped have enhanced to entry to our theatres! Check this area out next time you come to campus.

Following dinner at the Tower Inn with 60 alumni and staff, and the evening performance of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee directed by Ken Stevens, the 25th "birthday" of the Sponberg Theatre was celebrated. Great day; great evening for CMTA and its alumni.
