EMU Forensics hosted their annual showcase as part of their traditional departure for yet another prep and then the destination of Marshall University for the 2013 NFA tournament. The team came away with an outstanding performance and a 4th place finish in the nation. BTW EMU will host the 2014 National Forensics Tournament right here on our campus! Watch for more information about this event, April 18-24, 2014, and then ask about ways you might be able to help ... we expect to organize a Forensics Reunion to coincide with the National Tournament. Mark your calendar and come back to Ypsilanti. It's official — fall semester 2012 is here and students are excited to be back on campus. Food and friendship were the focus of the day at our annual EMU Theatre Welcome Back Picnic. Held on the south lawn of Quirk on Thursday, September 6, 2012, students, faculty and friends enjoyed hot dogs, games and tye-dyed t-shirts to show their support of the student org: EMU Players.

Communication, Media & Theatre Artshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17579208714201421207noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7460109430912120226.post-33205896363427181842012-08-03T11:07:00.000-04:002012-08-03T11:07:56.101-04:00After 31 Years of Service as Department Head of CMTA

Dennis Beagen, an icon of our department and to the entire EMU community, stepped down as our department head on July 1st. The faculty and staff honored him for his extraordinary vision at a reception held in conjunction with EMU Theatre's spring show, 39 Steps. Dennis and his wife, Char, are pictured here with the commemorative shovel he received that evening. Thank you Dennis for your devotion to CMTA and for your passion for EMU!Communication, Media & Theatre Artshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17579208714201421207noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7460109430912120226.post-58517370785473273172012-04-20T08:46:00.003-04:002012-04-20T08:46:35.302-04:00Sally McCracken and Bette Warren Retire

Following a performance of Guys and Dolls on Saturday April 14, 2012 CMTA hosted a most special reception to honor the retirement Sally McCracken and Bette Warren. Their retirement adventures include traveling in their new F-350 and 5th-wheel trailer (they are pictured here)! We send them our best and our sincere thanks for so many years of outstanding service to Eastern Michigan University and the departments of communication, media & theatre arts, and mathematics.

Honoring their EMU service, a scholarship was endowed in both of their names. If you would like to share your personal congratulations
and contribution to this endowment, email wkivi@emich for a donation

Thanks to hard work and diligence from the coaching staff & students over the summer, the team has already traveled to seven tournaments, finishing third, third, third, third, second, fourth and seventh place respectively. Perhaps what’s most exciting about these finishes is that Eastern’s entry size at each tournament has been dwarfed by all other top 10 teams. Yet even with small entries, the students are fairing quite well in final rounds, bringing home team trophies over some of the most competitive teams in the country.

University of Indianapolis Invitational:
Omar Orme: Extemp- 3rd, Informative- 1st, Persusion- 3rd
Ian Hatch: Prose- 5th
Tommy Petersen: Prose- 4th, Duo- 2nd
Mike Schafer: Extemp- 5th, Impromptu- 3rd
Jon Stowell: Impromptu- 2nd
Jon Conway: Informative- 2nd
Arthur Valenzuela: Duo- 2nd

Purdue Invitational:
Arthur Valenzuela: Prose- 6th, Duo- 1st
Charlie Chappel: D.I.- 3rd
Tommy Petersen: Duo- 1st
Jon Stowell: Extemp- 1st, Impromptu- 2nd, Persuasion- 2nd

Western Kentucky Swing Day One:
Ian Hatch: Prose- 2nd, D.I.- 1st
Omar Orme: Extemp- 3rd, Impromptu- 1st, Informative- 6th, Rhet.
